波兰华沙国际海报双年展竞赛创始人是Józef Mroszczak。第一届波兰华沙国际海报双年展于1966年举行，是世界上最早、最有声望的艺术海报展，也是世界五大海报展之一，属于ICOGRADA（国际平面设计师协会）认可的世界最早海报奖，一直被公认为最具艺术精神的设计展，享誉全球。40年来，两年一届在华沙举行的国际海报双年展已经成为来自世界各地的不同年龄艺术家的聚集地。
